Manhattan is located in southwest Montana in the Gallatin County. Gallatin County is number 88 in the top 100 of fastest growing counties in the US according to the 2006 census. Manhattan was named by New York business men who opened the Manhattan Malting Company. Manhattan was largely occupied by families from the Netherlands who grew barley for the malting business. With prohibition Manhattan, at that point a thriving community, adjusted to other industries, crops, and farming.
Manhattan still has that small town feel while offering proximity to Bozeman and many outdoor activities.
